Description
You are bidding on a vintage Bliley 7-pin (Jetec A7-17 socket) TC922 100 KHz 70°CCrystal
Temperature Stabilizer, almost in mint condition.
The TC922 is powered by 6.3V @ 1.58A using a Hammond P/N 166L6 6.3 Vac 2A filament transformer.
Inside the TC922 is a vintage 2-pin Bliley BH8 100 KHz Crystal Unit date-coded 8.54 installed in the TC922’s 5-pin socket.
The TC922 is also date-coded 8.54.
I think this TC922 was possibly used in the AN/SRT-14 system described in the Feb.’63 issue of 73 Magazine.
The supporting chassis is an aluminum 5”Wx7”Dx2”H chassis.
The homebrew dual-2N2222A crystal oscillator and 7812K 3-terminal regulator power supply are built on two 0.062” single-sided PCB materials.
The “ON” and “OVEN” LEDs are red and green respectively.
Using the side-mounted ceramic adjustment cap, the oscillator can easily be adjusted to 100.0000 KHz ±1 Hz.
With a little patience, ±0.2 Hz can be obtained.
Typically, the oven will stabilize within 0.1 to 0.2 Hz of its final setting an hour or so after power on.
If the TC922 is turned off, there will be a bit of hysteresis the next time power is turned on, and it will need to be slightly “tweaked” again if accuracy better than ±1 Hz is desired.
Remember, this is 1950’s technology.
