This is personalized piece of history that was presented to Marine Everett “Bud” Hampton” and retrieved posthumously from his estate. His name is engraved on the front cover with a taped piece of paper (presumably by Mr. Hampton) on page 89 where his tribute is located. That will remain in place as found.
In addition to the details below he was also the recipient of the South Korean Peace Medal.
From the book:
Everett Hampton, (Bud), Maj. U.S.M.C. (Ret.), enlisted in the Marine Corps and sent to Parris Island July 1942. Participated in WWII action at Roi-Namur, Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. Promoted to Sergeant in April 1944 and received a Battlefield Commission to 2nd Lieutenant on Saipan. Landed on Iwo as Platoon Leader and later served as Company Commander. Wounded twice on Iwo Jima.
Relieved from active duty April 1946. Attended University of North Carolina 1946-1950. Recalled to active duty January 1951. Served in Korea 1951-52, 1958-59.
Decorations received:
BRONZE STAR (two) and
PURPLE HEART (two).
Received Master’s Degree 1964. Retired from active duty 1965. Following retirement served as Loan Officer (1965-1970) and Business Manager, Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina until retirement July 1988.
Reside in Chapel Hill, NC with wife (Tommie) of 41 years. Have two children, Mark and Debbie. One grandchild Randy.
He is a member of Mason’s, Shriners, Amram Temple, U.S.M.C. Mustang Assn., National Order of Battlefield Commissions and 4th Marine Div. Ass.

Everett “Bud” Hampton lived from November 24, 1923 until May 13, 2021.
He was obviously a true Patriotic American who served all who live in the United States to the best of his ability.
We hope this book finds a home and place of true inspiration and appreciation.
The book does have some small staining at the bottom spine area as pictured.
