    This is a MSK (made in Japan) starter drive gear / pinion 23312-E3000. As commonly fitted to a Datsun 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 510, 610, 620, among others. the box has seen better decades, but the pinion is still in great shape and ready to go. You cannot beat the old parts.
