NOTE: you will see the typical 1/2 crack as is common in wood slices as they dry. Perfect for a resin fill.
This is a fresh cut from a dying Silver Maple tree in April 2021. The current moisture content after milling is down to 9% as of August 27th, 2021.
We are air drying it in the loft of our shop.
The surface has a heavier saw blade texture.
Notice the unique dual heartwood center, perfectly spalted design, along with the burled outgrowths along the edges.
The bark is only partially intact with much of it missing.
This is a premium, figured Silver Maple tree slice.
It has an oval appearance at approx 16 x 22 inches across.
It is mill cut at about 2 inch thickness.
This is a piece of highly desirable, very unique Silver Maple wood slice.
The piece was left dry for some of the pictures. Some pictures show the pieces misted with water.
A finish with sanding and an epoxy, polyurethane or wood oil finish will really bring out the fantastic shades designs in this Maple wood.
As expected, it did develop some checking/ half- cracks as it dried.
The piece is almost perfectly flat.
We may have more of this style if needed, message us.
There is no extra sanding, planing or drying.
