    Pau Rosa
    (Botanical: Swartzia fistuloides syn. Bobgunnia fistuloides)
    Pau Rosa Characteristics
    Generally easy to work with both hand and machine tools.  This wood turns well and produces a high polish.  The grain tends to be wavy or interlocked.  Medium to fine uniform texture with a high natural luster.  Pau Rosa is one of only a handful of woods that have the potential of being nearly rainbow colored, reminiscent of Tulipwood or Canarywood.
    Color Range
    Heartwood tends to vary in color from a pink or yellow to a darker reddish brown.  White to pale sapwood clearly demarcated from heartwood.  Will darken with age.

    Veneer, musical instruments, inlays, carving, tool handles, accessories, fine furniture and turning.
    What's The Tree Like?
    A tall tree 75 to 100 feet or more, producing a long, straight trunk about 2 to 3 feet in diameter.
