This handy 2-piece oil pump gasket kit includes one (1) ISHINO brand oil pump o-ring style gasket, plus one (1) NOK or THO brand oil pump shaft seal for Toyota vehicles equipped with a 2.0L or 2.2L (3SFE/5SFE) 4-cylinder engine, including Camry, Celica, MR2, Solara, and RAV4. Both the o-ring gasket and seal are made in Japan, and meet or exceed OEM specifications. These are premium quality parts produced by manufacturers who are OE suppliers to the automaker.

Tech Notes:
If you see an oil leak from the oil pump housing area (on the passenger side of the block), the oil pump o-ring gasket is the likely culprit. Over time, the rubber gasket becomes hard, flattened, and brittle, giving rise to oil leaks. The gasket is an asymmetrically-shaped, rubber o-ring style gasket that fits between the oil pump and the oil pump housing cover. The oil pump seal fits on the shaft of the oil pump drive gear. Oil leaks can also arise from this seal, as it also hardens and loses its sealing ability over time. To access the o-ring gasket, there are two bolts holding the oil pump cover (the part with the sprocket) to the oil pump housing/backing plate. (FYI, there is also a large 12-bolt hole gasket located *behind* the oil pump housing (between the oil pump housing and the engine block). This kit does
not
come with that paper gasket. However, that gasket is unnecessary unless you are doing more of a complete engine rebuild and plan to remove the entire oil pump housing backing plate.)
The timing belt will need to be removed to access the oil pump o-ring gasket and the shaft seal, so it's a good idea to replace the timing belt at the same time.
Be sure the new oil pump o-ring gasket is properly and securely seated in the channel groove to avoid accidental damage to the gasket during installation. The shaft seal should ideally be removed with a seal puller, but a screwdriver will work as long as you are careful not to scratch or damage the surrounding aluminum housing.
Gasket sealant (like RTV silicone) should not be applied to the oil pump o-ring gasket or seal. All surfaces should be clean and free of debris prior to installation.
