Miniature millefiori Pitcher with handle. Vittorio Ferro2.25 inches tall, 1.75 inches wide.
About the artist: Vittorio Ferro was a master glassworker in Venice that ascended from a family that worked in glass since the 13th century.
Vittorio started working at the Toso Fratelli factory in 1946 when he was 14 years old. He studied under his uncles Amleto & Armondo Zuffi. While at the Toso Works he executed pieces designed by every artist connected to Fratelli Toso during that period. After retiring from Toso Fratelli in 1981 he continued making award winning murrine vessels to well into his 70s. Sadly, Vittorio passed away in 2012, but leaves us an amazing legacy in glass murrine art objects.
This vessel is from Vittorio’s personal collection (made in 2001-2002) of miniature murrine vessels I was lucky enough to obtain in 2005.
There is a very interesting (but dated) clip of Vittorio Ferro constructing a millefiori pitcher on YouTube
