Description
Highly collectible LUCIANO GASPARI Mid-Century Modern Italian Art Glass. For sale on behalf of the original owner (my parents). GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC.
It is essentially clear glass with a smoky/dark look in some areas, decorated with gold leaf. Not certain if originally designed as an ashtray or vide poche. It was very hard to photograph. All in all, I would say it is slightly less smoky than it appears in some of the photos

MARKS:
Signed "L Gaspari" on the underside.
Born in Venice from a family of artists, he started his career as a painter in the 30s and joined the Spatialism art movement in 1951.
Between 1955 and 1968, he worked as art director for Salviati contributing to creating a fundamental part of the company’s collection. In 1959, he initiated a collaboration with Livio Seguso, one of the greatest glass matters at the time, and together they created glass artifacts of superb artistic quality and execution.
CONDITION: Vintage used item. In the area of the larger gold leaf decor, I can feel some roughness to the glass. It feels more like raised glass than a loss, but I very doubt it was there originally so please assume it is damage (see close-up photo). In that same gold area, I can see two other minor issues with 10x magnification. Some faint light scratches on base. With 10x magnification, I can see that two of the base corners have fleabites; the other two look fine. Present beautifully!
