    Description
    I just purchased this vintage Italian art glass pitcher from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The piece is characteristic of the designs produced by a number of vetrerias / glass houses working in and around Empoli and Florence in the Tuscany region during the 1960's. I had this form once before and concluded it was probably done at Stelvia (S.T.E.L.V.I.A.) during the years Wayne Husted (Blenko) contributed designs. The mold blown form has a striking Modernist look with finely textured ribs (icicles / tree bark) circling the body. The piece is done in a bold Ruby shade which shows rich color and excellent clarity. The pitcher measures 7" high, 7 ¼" wide at the handle and 6" deep. The base has the pictured pontil mark. The piece is in excellent condition with no damage. This striking ruby design would make a fun addition to your collection of Mid Century / Italian Empoli (?) art glass.
