    Cocobolo Characteristics
One of today's most popular rosewoods.  Very nice to work and polish, but also very hard. Takes an exceptional polish and is very rot
    resistant
.  A Heavy and Hard wood with a moderate workability.  The grain is straight to interlocked, fine even texture with excellent natural luster.  Cocobolo is listed in  CITES appendix II and is on the IUCN red list.  It is vulnerable due to a population reduction of over 20% in the past three generations.  However
plantation growing is on the rise in South America.

Heartwood can be a kaleidoscope of colors.  Ranging from
yellow, orange, red and brown with black and purple streaks,
sapwood is creamy white.  Colors are considerably lighter when freshly machined, then oxidizing and darkening shortly after.
