Description
5 Board Feet of highest quality, 8/4 thick, Honduran MahoganyThe lumber was kiln dried, and has been air dried for many years.
This boards was cut from old, seasoned Honduran mahogany.
Honduran Mahogany is also called Genuine Mahogany or South American Mahogany.
The scientific name is
Swietenia macrophylla.
The board measures 48 7/8 inches long, and 7 5/8 inches wide
Actual board thickness is at least 1 15/16 inches.
Each side of the board is pictured.
The board is flat (no cup, twist or bow), and is planed smooth on both faces. Not finish planed or face jointed.
Clean sawed on 1 edge, rough sawn on the other edge.
100% clear, no end checking, no defects, but worth mentioning:
There are about 15 to 20, sparsely placed, very small, worm holes visible on ONLY ONE face, along the edge from the top 15"down. These marks extend in no more than ABOUT 2 INCHES from the rough sawn edge.
I tried to show these in the last picture, but they are very small and hard to see. The lumber was not and, is not, infested. These marks were very likely made on the live tree, or the log before it was milled. They will easily fill in with sawdust or pore filler, or they can be trimmed off, or hidden, left as is, etc. I am describing them here because I want the buyer to get a complete, accurate, description of the lumber.
