55 56 CHEVROLET STARTER MOTOR MOUNTING PLATE
FOR USE WITH A LATE MODEL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
A starter motor mounting plate for a 55-56 Chevy 265 V-8. If you are installing a later model automatic transmission such as a Turbohydramatic in a 1955-1956 with a 265 V8, the transmission does not have a way to mount the starter as the original Powerglide transmission did. Late model engines use a block mounted starter but a 55-56 265 V-8 has no provision for a block mounted starter. This starter plate mounts between the rear of the engine and the transmission providing a mounting surface for your original starter.  You can also use this plate in 1957 models but may require drilling out one of the starter mounting holes. Will work with all popular GM automatic transmissions. The large 168 tooth flexplate is required. Comes with instructions and hardware.
